Cairns. Days 22 & 23

Been impressed with the local hospitality, Al’s cousin Daryl and wife Sandy giving us a tour around Cairns. We had viewed a near perfect cone mountain on the way to Fitzroy Island and ended up having lunch near it at Daryl and Sandy’s house. Yes it did rain a bit on Friday.

Checked out the alternative Marlin  Marina in Cairns central and glad we chose Yorkeys Knob. The boating club here is an excellent venue. Local chandlery operator and past commodore Don Cortis assisting with getting some small parts sent in from Sydney, taking us to a local engineering shop for a minor repair and being excellent company at the bar.

Al is now on  flight back to Brisbane and Jim is arriving this evening.

Glad all is going well with your stopover and that you have been able to get the necessary bits sorted out for Balakera. Hope you enjoy the next few days with Jim and that the weather will be kind. T & F
