Day 41. Washington DC

We just missed the train to Washington by 5 minutes and had to wait another hour so I took the opportunity to inspect the baseball stadium Camden Yards, home of the Baltimore Orieles.

We walked from Washington Union Station to the Capitol which was under restoration and covered by scaffolding.

We were then picked up by our excellent host for the day Mary, who had been following our blog and suggested we contact her when in DC for her to how us around. She is pictured below with Washington Memorial and Capitol in the background. So we then visited the Lincoln Memorial, White House,  Korean War Memorial, Pentagon and the Vietnam War Memorial.

We then adjourned for lunch at a bar and restaurant on the Potomac River. After lunch she took us to Arlington Cemetary and the Iwo Jima memorial where we timed it right to watch a military tattoo with throwing rifles. Large day and back to Baltimore Inner Harbour at 5.40pm.

What a day! Now you need to go back so that Terry can go to all the museums.
