We took the Staten Island Railway from Great Kills to St George to catch the ferry over to Manhattan. Visited ground zero and the 9/11 museum. I found it numbing, same as I felt in 2001.

Deveen researched the name Great Kills and kills is an old Dutch name for a stream or creek, apparently… My knowledge of Dutch didn’t help with this one, never heard it before. We are now about a quarter of the way through the loop.
