Dawn breaks on our delightful overnight anchorage at Haverstraw Bay on the Hudson. Up anchored at 7.15am in millpond conditions.
The military training academy at West Point emerges from the mist like a Bavarian Castle. The passage photographed below of Stormking Mountain was also reminiscent of the Rhineland and looking a bit like the Lorelei.
We are now moored in Whites Marina, Poughkeepsie, about 25 miles further North from Haverstraw Bay. We learnt today that the Americas Cup preliminaries are scheduled in two weeks for New York Harbour and marinas are booked out so glad we passed through when we did.
