Day 108. Ottawa, Illinois

We fared much better with the two locks we transited today, waiting only 10 minutes at each. We did pass some large tugs with even larger tows, one had 15 barges, 3 wide and 5 long. We reached Ottawa, not the one in Canada but the Illinois version, by 11 am and proceeded to get a subway and also victuals.  The town municipal dock is free and close to town. It is another 35 degree C day and after yesterday we know that drinking beer to cool off is not the solution. Ottawa has many murals and one depicts Lincoln (prior to growing his beard) giving his presidential debate here in the lead up to being elected.
