Day 124. Nashville, Tn

The shape of the indoor swimming pool at our Quality Inn reinforces what is important in this town. The billboards on the 10 lane freeway coming into town also set the theme of music; country, blues, bluegrass, rock and roll…

The Nashville skyline is a bit cloudy with light rain as we walk the 15 minutes from our hotel into downtown. We crossed the footbridge across the Cumberland River it was really buzzing for a Tuesday night. Seemed like every second or third building was a bar with live music, really good live music! We visited Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, Hard Rock Cafe and Earnest Tubbs record store which features a stage that had seen Elvis and everyone else you can think of perform there. We also passed by the Grand Ole Opry, Johnny Cash Museum and BB King Blues Club. An African American busker in a dinner suit/tuxedo looked and sounded just like Louis Armstrong. Another busker remarked to a couple, “you got yourself a trophy wife there, you must be a millionaire.” It was all a fun party atmosphere.

  1. Tony Jones says:

Good morning Derrick. Nashville looks and sounds pretty darn good! Are you planning on going to the Grand Ole Opry at all? Love the shape of the swimming pool – assume you’ve been putting it to good use doing your normal early morning workout in the pool! T & F
